چکیده

We provide an analysis of the nature of emfs induced during the operation of a railgun. The focus here is on the railguns, but the results are applicable to a broad range of similar distributed parameter problems. The main sources of induced emfs are current changes and armature motion. New perspectives are presented. It is shown, for example, that there is no true motional emf in railguns, and an alternative approach is offered in terms of localized flux creation. COMSOL modeling is used to illustrate the main concepts and consequences of induced emfs, and to validate the analyses. Experimental data provide added validation. The results offer insights into previously unexplained phenomena commonly observed in railgun tests.

Evaluation of the Validity of a Nonlinear J-Shaped Dose-Response Relationship in Cancers Induced by Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields

The radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMFs) produced by widely used mobile phones are classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans by International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Current data on the relationship between exposure to RF-EMFs generated by commercial mobile phones and brain cancer are controversial. Our studies show that this controversy may be caused by several par...

Modeling and Validation of the Effects of Induced Fields in Railguns

The electromagnetic launcher is currently being explored as an alternative to propellant gun systems to satisfy the ordnance requirements of future military systems. Recent improvements in component technologies have increased the plausibility of making the electromagnetic launcher a practical alternative to chemically driven guns. The U.S. Army Armament Research, Development, and Engineering C...

The effect of Cannabis sativa extract on damages induced by electromagnetic fields on ovarian follicle maturation and hormonal surface changes in mice

Electromagnetic waves (EMF) are a mixture of electrical and magnetic waves. The energy transmitted by these radiations is absorbed by living tissues. Electromagnetic fields seem to cause infertility in women. Cannabis is annual herbaceous plant grows in tropical areas. This study was conducted to investigate the protective effects of hydroalcoholic extract of Cannabis sativa in various doses of...

An Evaluation of Battery Power Supplies for Electric Railguns

This paper describes an analytical feasibility study of the use of chemical storage batteries as the power supply for an electric railgun. The railguns studied are capable of accelerating 1 to 10 kg projectiles to 10 km/sec. Batteries were studied because they offer extremely high energy storage density although they operate at low voltage. Thus, an inductive store must be used to provide pulse...

Adaptive Response Induced by Pre-Exposure to 915 MHz Radiofrequency: A Possible Role for Antioxidant Enzyme Activity

Background: Over the past few years, the rapid use of high frequency electromagnetic fields like mobile phones has raised global concerns about the negative health effects of its use. Adaptive response is the ability of a cell or tissue to better resist stress damage by prior exposure to a lesser amount of stress. This study aimed to assess whether radiofrequency radiation can induce adaptive r...
